go figure....

i had an appointment to get some blood drawn this morning...tests that involved a 12 hour fast before-hand. i contemplated getting a baby-sitter for an hour while i ran to do this, but alas, you all know me...i'm cheap! i figured the appointment would last no more than ten minutes, we'd be in and out and then head for the MOPS playdate at the park (especially since it was a GORGEOUS morning). well, best laid plans....

we arrived at the doctor and got right in. i quickly maneuvered the stroller and elizabeth into the room, and they were being so good while the gal found a vein and starting drawing blood. of course, my veins are never easy to find...especially after i've fasted for 12 hours....so they used my hands, which never give as much quantity of blood and by the end of the second stick i was feeling a bit lightheaded...which i promptly mentioned to the nurse just before she stuck me for the third time. that is the last thing i remember...before that horrible, groggy, confused feeling as you awaken in a strange place. i wasn't out for long, but yes, i completely passed out with both of the girls there with me...ugh! the nurses were fabulous, helping corral them into the room where they had me lay down...one of them staying there with us while we waited for the doctor to check me out. next time i will most definitely be getting a baby-sitter, regardless of the cost or inconvenience!

**note, i did finally post my first birthday post for kate...it is right below this one, so just keep reading!

I understand about the veins. They almost always have to take the blood from my hands, which I hate. I'm sorry you passed out! I hope the girls didn't get too scared.

I feel for you, Amanda! When I was in labor with Josiah, they hit a nerve in my hand while trying to place the IV needle--- ouch!!! I hate needles...

Wouldn't that just be the way? I am glad that you are fine now...I thought of you as I went to my Dr's appointment Friday. I didn't have blood drawn, but as I passed by the station where they do such things you popped into my head.
I hope you had a nice weekend.
Hugs,
Sarah :)
