looking through the photos our saturday seems a wee bit exhausting, but it truly wasn't. rather it was a lovely december saturday...much of it spent wearing our PJs and relaxing at home...and then 'tis the season for Christmas lights. we bundled up, hit the local Chinese buffet for dinner, went downtown to gaze at the lights on the circle (...oh how refreshing to see it all anew through the wide-eyed wonder of a three year old--and oh how enchanting she found the horses that kept clomping past pulling carriages!), popped in a bakery to split some shortbread, and then back to our house...aglow with the Christmas lights daddy hung that morning. (elizabeth wanted mugho to come downtown with us, and mike jokingly told her he had to stay home to turn on our Christmas lights....so upon turning the corner and seeing the lights she exclaimed, "mugho remember to turn on our lights!"--PRECIOUS!) once the girls were snuggly tucked away in bed mike and i watched "elf" and wrapped the girls' Christmas presents...just what a december Saturday should be made of!
daddy hangs the icicle lights with care...
...while kate naps, and mommy and her little libber elf bake up some cookies...
(can you tell which elf has been eating chocolate chips!)
...then out came the train...
...and some precious moments of happy togetherness and playing...
...1 empty parsley jar+1 pooh figurine+hot glue+TONS of glitter=her very own snow globe...
or perhaps the equation should be...
1 empty parsley jar+1 pooh figure+hot glue+TONS of glitter=enchantment!
our family...
...daddy and his girls...
...mommy and her girls...
kater gator was so bundled up she looked like she belonged in the movie "a Christmas story"
elizabeth had a blast...they even let her ring the bell after she dropped a little something in the salvation army bucket...bells and horses and shimmery lights...OH MY!
mike's favorite part of the evening was popping in a bakery for hot chocolate and shortbread
...and home again, home again...i know this isn't the best shot, but you get the idea...right! :)

What a perfectly lovely day! And speaking of perfectly lovely, I received the most wonderful package from you on Friday. Thank you for the crafty goodness. I sat down late that night to write you a thank-you email and actually dozed off in the middle of it. I'll have to finish it and send it tonight, but in the meantime I wanted to let you know that I LOVE the ornaments and trees, and I can't wait to read my book! Thank you!!
Eating chocolate chips? Sounds a lot like the old adage, "Like mother, like daughter!" I remember a certain someone who would always raid the pantry for packages of chocolate chips, so when Mom was ready to make cookies, there was never enough chips left! What a wonderful family day preparing for the holidays. Can't wait to spend time with you all very soon!
Love, Grandmommy
So much enchantment going on over here! Your girls really are the cutest little things and I'm inlove with their stripedy boggins and scarves! How cute are they!
Love the family picture by the way you guys are so beautiful!
Loves to you Amanda!
Sounds like y'all had a great family day! The pictures are wonderful. I still love those hats they are wearing!
Amanda,
That description of your Saturday was perfect! The pictures were adorable. I love the way you guys go out and do stuff as a family.
I bet we were watching Elf at the same time. :)
Our Saturday was busy - I did some volunteering in the morning and Dave worked on Dry wall in our rebuilt porch most of the day, but hot chocolate and Elf were waiting for us when the boys were tucked securly in bed. :)
I always laugh so hard, because of how much like Elf I am... :) Dave makes fun of my exuberance (in a loving way of course...) :) over things. We joke that I always want to snuggle and eat cookie dough. :)
So glad you shared all the good things going on. Oh- and I love that Muhgo remembered those lights!! :)
sounds heavenly.....

hello again! i definitely have the same problem...keep thinking of more and more things to make, and then my list gets so overwhelming at times. liberty never used to fall asleep just anywhere...now if she's had a busy day, she'll just drop randomly. i can't wait to see all the things you and mike have made your girls for christmas!
Amanda, it has been tooo long!
